DesignAtlas Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6th October, 2026

DesignAtlas is operated by Digital Network Group Pty Ltd trading as Built Environment Channel (BEC).

BEC respects the privacy of people who use DesignAtlas. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and disclose it, and the choices available to you.

A key principle of DesignAtlas is that your individual activity on the platform is not disclosed to manufacturers or suppliers in a way that identifies you unless you deliberately choose to provide information to them.

1. Information we collect

You may be able to browse parts of DesignAtlas without creating an account.

If you create a DesignAtlas account, we may collect information including:

  • your name;
  • email address;
  • organisation or employer;
  • job title or professional role;
  • general location;
  • account login and authentication information;
  • professional interests or preferences you choose to provide; and
  • other information you choose to add to your profile.

We may also collect information about how you use DesignAtlas, including:

  • projects, articles and industry news you view;
  • products, suppliers and categories you view;
  • searches you perform;
  • content, products, projects, suppliers, lists or collections you save;
  • resources you access or download;
  • topics or categories you interact with;
  • enquiries you submit;
  • interactions with DesignAtlas features;
  • communications preferences;
  • referring websites or pages;
  • browser and device information;
  • IP address;
  • approximate location derived from technical information; and
  • dates and times of access.

Where you are logged in, some of this activity may be associated with your DesignAtlas account.

2. Information you choose to provide

You may choose to provide additional information when using DesignAtlas features.

For example, you may:

  • create lists or collections;
  • save products, projects, articles or other content;
  • identify professional interests;
  • provide project-related information;
  • submit an enquiry;
  • request information from a supplier; or
  • communicate with BEC.

You control what information you choose to provide through these features.

We ask that you do not provide confidential project information or personal information about other people unless it is appropriate and you have authority to do so.

3. How we use your information

We may use information collected through DesignAtlas to:

  • create and manage your account;
  • provide saved content, collections, preferences and other account features;
  • personalise your DesignAtlas experience;
  • help you discover relevant projects, industry information, products, suppliers and resources;
  • maintain your saved information across sessions and devices;
  • process enquiries and requests;
  • communicate with you about your account or use of DesignAtlas;
  • provide updates or communications you have requested or agreed to receive;
  • understand how people use DesignAtlas;
  • understand interest in different projects, topics, products, categories and resources;
  • measure engagement with DesignAtlas content;
  • improve DesignAtlas content, search and functionality;
  • develop new DesignAtlas features and services;
  • identify and resolve technical problems;
  • maintain the security and integrity of DesignAtlas; and
  • comply with our legal obligations.

Where you have an account, we may associate information about your use of DesignAtlas with that account for these purposes.

4. Personalisation

DesignAtlas may use information about your profile and activity to personalise your experience.

For example, information about the projects, articles, topics, products, suppliers or categories you have viewed, saved or interacted with may be used to help surface relevant content and resources.

Personalisation is intended to make DesignAtlas more useful to you.

This information is not provided to manufacturers or suppliers in a way that identifies you unless you deliberately choose to provide or share identifying information.

5. Analytics and reporting

BEC may analyse how people use DesignAtlas to understand the performance of the platform and the content available through it.

This may include aggregated information about engagement with:

  • architecture and design projects;
  • industry news and articles;
  • topics and categories;
  • products and materials;
  • manufacturers and suppliers;
  • technical and specification resources; and
  • other DesignAtlas features.

BEC may use aggregated or de-identified information for research, reporting, platform development and commercial purposes.

Aggregated or de-identified information does not identify an individual DesignAtlas user.

6. Supplier reporting

DesignAtlas may provide manufacturers and suppliers with information about engagement with their products, content and resources.

This reporting may include aggregated information such as:

  • product or supplier profile views;
  • resource or document downloads;
  • product saves;
  • engagement with particular product categories or content; and
  • broader trends in DesignAtlas usage.

BEC does not provide manufacturers or suppliers with information that identifies an individual DesignAtlas user based on their browsing, searching, saving, downloading or other activity on DesignAtlas.

For example, a supplier may be told that its product was viewed, saved or its technical document downloaded, but not who viewed, saved or downloaded it.

7. Information you choose to provide to a supplier

DesignAtlas may provide features that allow you to voluntarily provide information to a manufacturer or supplier.

For example, you may choose to:

  • submit an enquiry;
  • request further information;
  • request a sample;
  • request contact from a supplier; or
  • enter your details into another supplier contact feature.

Where you choose to provide information through one of these features, the information you enter may be provided to the relevant manufacturer or supplier for the purpose indicated.

BEC will not provide additional information from your DesignAtlas account, profile or activity to that supplier unless you have expressly chosen to provide or share that information.

Simply viewing, searching for, saving or downloading information about a product does not provide the supplier with your identity or contact details.

Once information you have chosen to provide has been sent to a supplier, that supplier is responsible for its subsequent handling of that information in accordance with applicable law and its own privacy practices.

8. Communications and marketing

BEC may send you service-related communications necessary to operate your DesignAtlas account.

We may also send you DesignAtlas, built environment, project, product, industry or BEC communications where you have chosen to receive them or where otherwise permitted by law.

You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe facility provided in those communications or through available account settings.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent BEC from sending essential account, security or service-related communications.

Creating a DesignAtlas account does not automatically authorise individual manufacturers or suppliers to contact you for marketing purposes.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

DesignAtlas may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the platform, maintain sessions, remember preferences, understand usage and improve the user experience.

These technologies may collect information about your browser, device and interactions with DesignAtlas.

You may be able to control cookies through your browser or other settings. Some DesignAtlas features may not function properly where necessary cookies are disabled.

10. Service providers

BEC may use third-party service providers to help host, operate, secure, maintain, communicate about and analyse DesignAtlas.

These may include providers of:

  • website and cloud hosting;
  • databases and data storage;
  • account authentication;
  • email and communications;
  • analytics;
  • security and fraud prevention;
  • customer support; and
  • other technology infrastructure.

These providers may process personal information on BEC's behalf where reasonably necessary to provide their services.

Providing information to a service provider acting on BEC's behalf is different from providing identifiable user activity to a manufacturer or supplier.

11. Other disclosures

BEC may disclose personal information:

  • to service providers assisting with the operation of DesignAtlas;
  • to a supplier where you have deliberately provided information for that purpose;
  • where reasonably necessary to protect the security, rights or operation of BEC or DesignAtlas;
  • as part of a merger, acquisition, sale, restructure or similar business transaction;
  • where required or authorised by law; or
  • with your consent.

BEC does not sell personal information collected through DesignAtlas.

12. Overseas processing and disclosure

Some technology and service providers used to operate DesignAtlas may store or process information outside Australia.

Where BEC is likely to disclose personal information to recipients outside Australia, we will handle those disclosures in accordance with applicable Australian privacy requirements.

Where practicable, this Privacy Policy will identify the countries in which overseas recipients are likely to be located.

13. Data security

BEC takes reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

No internet service or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Users are also responsible for keeping their DesignAtlas login credentials secure.

14. How long we keep information

BEC retains personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide DesignAtlas, operate our business and meet legal, security and regulatory requirements.

If you delete your account, we will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify personal information that is no longer required, subject to information we reasonably need to retain for legal, security, backup, fraud prevention or legitimate business purposes.

Aggregated or de-identified information may continue to be retained.

15. Accessing and correcting your information

You may be able to view and update some personal information through your DesignAtlas account.

You may also contact BEC to request access to personal information we hold about you or request correction of information you believe is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.

We may need to verify your identity before processing a request.

16. Account deletion

You may request deletion of your DesignAtlas account through available account functionality or by contacting BEC.

Deleting your account may permanently remove access to saved products, projects, articles, collections, preferences and other account information.

Some information may continue to be retained where reasonably necessary or required by law, as described in this Privacy Policy.

17. Using DesignAtlas without an account

Where practicable, DesignAtlas may allow users to browse publicly available content without creating an account.

Certain personalised features may require an account because they cannot reasonably be provided without identifying or recognising the user.

18. Privacy enquiries and complaints

If you have a question, concern or complaint about how BEC handles personal information, please contact:

Built Environment Channel Digital Network Group Pty Ltd info@becnetwork.com.au Lvl 1, 17 Prince Patrick Street, VIC, Richmond, 3121

We will take reasonable steps to investigate and respond to privacy complaints.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may also be entitled to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

19. Changes to this Privacy Policy

BEC may update this Privacy Policy as DesignAtlas develops or our information-handling practices change.

The current version will be published on DesignAtlas with the date it was last updated.

Where a change materially affects how we use personal information associated with registered accounts, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected users.
